About me

Product designer,
systems thinker,
design leader

I'm a Senior Product Designer with 9 years of experience across B2B SaaS, fintech, maritime intelligence, and early-stage startups. I don't just design interfaces - I help teams figure out what to build and how to ship it without losing coherence at scale.

Over the last few years I've rebuilt how design teams work around AI - faster research synthesis, documentation, and design-to-dev handoff, with fewer bugs and higher quality. I'm currently Product Design Consultant at Geoserve, leading end-to-end design from platform strategy to delivery.

My focus is rarely the screen - it's the system underneath it. Teams tend to move faster after I leave than before I arrived.

Career Journey

9 years. 6 chapters.
One evolution.

01 · Beginning

Brand & Web Designer

centerfills Jun 2017 – Jun 2018

Sole designer. Every brief was a new world - branding, pitch decks, websites, print. I had no system, no mentor, no playbook. Just taste, pressure, and a deadline. I didn't know it then, but working alone on everything built a muscle most designers never develop: seeing the whole picture before drawing a single frame.

"Every designer starts somewhere. I started by trying to make everything look beautiful. I didn't yet know that beauty without purpose is just decoration."

02 · Agency Years

Senior UI Designer

Red Baton Feb 2018 – Jul 2023 · 5 years

Five years. Fifty-plus projects. A new industry every few months - fintech, healthcare, logistics, e-commerce, edtech. An agency is a design accelerator: you either get fast or you get left behind. I got fast. Then I got systematic. Then I started leading. By year three I was directing junior designers and owning client relationships. The agency didn't teach me one craft. It taught me how to learn fast in any context.

"The agency taught me something most designers never learn: how to be good, fast - and how to stay good under pressure."

03 · Leadership

Lead Product Designer

Converj Jul 2023 – Feb 2025

First in-house role. First design team. First time I owned outcomes, not just deliverables. I built the design system from scratch, led two designers, and sat in every strategic conversation. I learned that the highest-leverage design decision is rarely the screen - it's the system underneath it. Design tokens, component libraries, handoff rituals: these compound. Every hour spent on systems saves ten in execution.

"I realised designing screens wasn't the job. The real leverage was designing the system - and the people who use it."

04 · Consulting

Product Design Consultant

Geoserve (Freelance) Jan 2025 – Present

Consulting means owning outcomes, not just deliverables. At Geoserve I led end-to-end design for a maritime SaaS platform - from platform strategy to design system architecture and cross-functional delivery. The question shifted from "how should this look?" to "what should we build and why?" I now sit at the table where product direction is decided, not just handed down.

"The hardest thing about consulting isn't the design - it's earning the trust to say 'let's not build that' and having the room listen."

05 · AI Era

AI-Augmented Designer

Across all roles 2023 – Present

I didn't just add AI to my toolkit. I rebuilt the entire way I work around it. Research synthesis that used to take two days now takes two hours. Documentation that was perpetually out-of-date is now generated on commit. Design specs that caused dev friction are now precise and exhaustive. The real shift wasn't in speed - it was in what I could now afford to think about. When AI handles the repetitive, the designer can go deeper on the things that actually require judgment.

"AI didn't replace my thinking. It freed me to do more of it."

Nine years in. Still the designer who asks "why" before "how does it look." I design products, systems, and teams. I've shipped across fintech, SaaS, maritime tech, and consulting. I've built design functions from nothing and left them stronger than I found them. I'm most useful where design is still figuring out its seat at the table - and where the work actually ships.

"The highest-leverage design decision is rarely the screen. It's the system underneath it."

How I think

Inside My Design Mind

How product thinking, systems, leadership and AI connect in the way I work.

Started with UI Systems over screens AI changed everything Built design teams

Designing with AI

I didn't just adopt AI tools. I redesigned how design teams work.

Over the past few years, I've actively integrated AI into the design workflow - not as a novelty, but as a structural shift in how teams operate. The result: faster research synthesis, better documentation, fewer design-to-dev bugs, and more time for the thinking that actually matters.

Research synthesis
Used AI to synthesise interview transcripts, support tickets, and usage data into structured insight maps - replacing two-day synthesis workshops with focused two-hour sessions.
~75% faster synthesis cycles
Spec & documentation
Introduced AI-assisted design spec generation - converting annotated Figma frames into structured component documentation that engineers could act on directly. Cut back-and-forth by half.
~50% reduction in design QA rounds
Design exploration
Used AI to rapidly generate layout alternatives, naming conventions, microcopy variations, and component states - compressing exploration phases that previously took days into hours.
3–5× more concepts explored per sprint
Stakeholder communication
Leveraged AI to draft product briefs, decision memos, and design rationale documents - giving stakeholders better context and reducing the number of alignment meetings needed before development begins.
Fewer pre-dev alignment meetings
Prototyping & testing
Used AI-assisted prototyping to generate realistic data states, edge case variations, and interaction logic documentation - making usability tests more realistic and developer handoffs cleaner.
Richer test scenarios, fewer post-launch bugs
Team capability building
Introduced AI tooling to junior designers on the team - structured prompt frameworks, workflow templates, and review checklists - compressing the gap between junior and mid-level output quality.
Faster junior-to-mid progression

How I work

A few things that have stayed constant across nine years and every kind of team.

01

Business context before pixels

I spend the first part of every project understanding the business model, the competitive landscape, and the constraints. Design that ignores those things ships and fails.

02

Systems, not screens

One-off screens solve one problem. Systems solve categories of problems and get faster to extend over time. I default to thinking in patterns before I think in components.

03

Engineering is a design partner

I write thorough specs, flag implementation challenges before they become build problems, and treat engineers as co-designers - not executors. The best products come from that partnership.

04

Fewer decisions, made well

Great product design is mostly about what you choose not to include. I push teams to make deliberate tradeoffs rather than accumulate features until nothing feels intentional.

05

Ship, learn, iterate

Shipping imperfect work and learning from real users is almost always better than polishing indefinitely. Momentum builds better products than perfection does.

06

Lead by raising the floor

Strong design teams aren't built by protecting high standards from the top - they're built by raising the baseline. Mentoring, clear standards, and shared ownership compound faster than individual excellence.
